SSL Certificates and Site Security

You probably don't realise how much effort goes into securing your data, both online, on your own PC and your office network.

Protecting your information and data is often a transparent process however we are constantly reminded of this process with passwords and pins whenever we; log into our PC, withdraw cash from a cashpoint, virtually every time we use our debit or credit card, online banking and searching online with the likes of Google.

Wait... What... Google - but that's just a search engine..... Correct - but over the last few years Google has made a subtle change to its search page and most people won't have even noticed it. If you type in www.google.co.uk into your favourite browser you will see the address bar automatically changes to this - https://www.google.co.uk/ - notice the HTTPS and the PADLOCK at the end of the address bar! This indicates that the interaction between you and Google is secure, meaning the data has been ENCRYPTED.

Sometimes these boxes are coloured green but that's just a visual identification. If what you are doing needs to be secure, such as typing your credit card details then you must make sure the connection is HTTPS and there is a Padlock in the address bar - like this:

Someone once coined the phrase - 'Information is power', but with modern computing we feel 'The power is in what you do with that information' - I wonder if this is why google went secure?

How can we help with encryption?

We can make sure that your systems are secure by applying for and installing SSL Certificates and ensuring that your data transmissions are secure, such as email, Company Websites, Remote Web Workplaces, iPhone and iPad connections.

You will know if you need SSL certificates and if you do, we can provide them fast (often same day within the hour), secure and at a very competitive cost.
